Step-by-Step House Construction Process
A complete walk-through of the house construction process from planning to handover.

1. Planning and design
Architectural drawings, structural design and approvals come first. This stage sets the budget and material specification for everything that follows, so it's worth the time it takes.
2. Foundation and plinth
Excavation, footing and plinth beam work follow soil testing. Foundation type (isolated footing, raft, pile) depends on soil bearing capacity, which is why skipping soil testing to save time is a false economy.
3. Superstructure — columns, beams and slabs
The RCC frame goes up floor by floor. This is the stage where steel and cement quality matter most, and where curing time (not just pour time) determines long-term strength.
4. Masonry, plumbing and electrical
Brickwork or block work fills in the frame, while plumbing and electrical conduits are laid before plastering. Coordinating these three trades in the right order avoids breaking finished walls to add a missed pipe or wire later.
5. Finishing and handover
Plastering, flooring, painting, fittings and a final snag list close out the project. A documented handover — with warranty details for fittings and finishes — protects you after the contractor has left site.
