Best Flooring Options for Homes in India
Vitrified tile, marble, granite and vinyl — how they compare on cost, maintenance and durability for Indian homes.

Vitrified tiles
The most common choice for Indian homes today — low water absorption, wide design range and generally the most cost-effective per square foot among durable options. Double-charge and full-body variants cost more but resist chipping better over time.
Natural marble
Marble looks premium and stays cool underfoot, which suits warmer climates, but it's porous and needs periodic sealing and polishing. It's also more prone to staining from acidic spills than tile.
Granite
Harder and less porous than marble, granite handles high-traffic areas and kitchens well, though the slab-matching pattern is less uniform than tile, which some homeowners like and others don't.
Vinyl and laminate
Good for a fast, budget-friendly refresh or for rooms where sound and warmth underfoot matter more than long-term water resistance. Not ideal for bathrooms or areas with standing water.
How to decide
Match the flooring to the room, not the whole house — vitrified tile or granite for kitchens and bathrooms, and a warmer material like vinyl or engineered wood for bedrooms, is a common and sensible split.
